This project is about the visualization of language change and language use. We are a group of researchers coming from the fields of computer science and linguistics at the University of Konstanz. The aim of our project is to combine these fields to develop and apply computational models and visualizations that help to visualize and analyze language patterns. The main goal of these visualization methods is to push the state-of-the-art in linguistic data analysis on a qualitative as well as on a quantitative level.
Furthermore, the methods to be developed will focus on a diverse set of data sources and phenomena which are related to language change, language genealogy and variation in language use, in order to investigate diachronic and typological relationships between complex data sets.
